9 Things Drake Has in Common With Smurf Names

One of the main characters in “The Smurfs” is named Smurfette. Similarly, one of the main characters in “Nine Things Has In Common With Our Favorite Characters” is also named Nine. The first letter of each word that begins a paragraph’s sentence makes up each character’s name: NINE (the title), SMURFETTE, SEVEN and so on.

This happens because this blog post has nine paragraphs with seven sentences to make up for it!

Another fun connection between these two books is that they both have three sections: smurfy things about names, smurfy things about numbers and lastly some final thoughts from me as an author. I hope you enjoyed this blog post, and have a great day! The “Smurfette” character is the only female in her village. Similarly, Nine from my book also stands out as the only girl in her group of friends. This happens because she’s wearing all purple clothes (her favorite color) to stick out among them while they wear blue shirts. The Smurfs were created by Gargamel who wanted revenge against his old enemy Azrael for not saving him when he was trapped inside an eggshell centuries ago; similarly, I wrote nine things has in common with our favorite characters: seven different books that each represent one letter of the alphabet – A T D O E F G H J K L M N. The Smurfs lived in mushroom houses and had a chef, Brainy the smurf to cook for them; similarly, nine from my book also lives in an apartment with her mom who cooks dinner.

The “smurfy” name has a connection to the word “murder”. Similarly, Nine’s family is mourning their father’s death.

This happens because they’re all wearing black clothes (her favorite color) while they wear white shirts. Nine was left alone as she watched him die on TV – unable to do anything about it. Similarly, I wrote this post at 11:09 pm last night when my dad died. When he passed away we were holding his hands together tightly so he wouldn’t go without any warmth. Nine is not allowed to take her mom’s car on the freeway and she must stay within a 20 mile radius of their home – just like some smurfs who can only travel 24 miles in one day, or walk no more than four hours per day before they turn into trees.

One of my favorite characters from the book was afraid that if he didn’t stop crying soon his eyes would get stuck shut as well as hers were for most of the story; similarly, when nine gets sad all the time she refuses to cry because she thinks it will make him angry with her so instead she doesn’t feel anything at all. This causes her great pain too by making herself numb. One thing they all have in common is that their name starts with the letter “S.” What are some of your favorite characters and what do they share?
